Some things about me:
- I'm currently in my twenties
- I'm non-binary and use they/them pronouns
- I am a huge animal lover used to have two pets, a dog named Bode and a cat named Jimmy.
- I am a long-time fan of the Warriors/Warrior Cats series and am currently in the process of catching up to the newer releases. My goal is to eventually review all Erin Hunter books that are not graphic novels or guide books!
- My favorite and thus most commonly reviewed genres are (animal) xenofiction, fantasy and non-fiction about animals and nature.
Some rules and stuff for this blog:
- Me reviewing a book of a certain series doesn't mean I'm obligated to check out and review the rest of the series.
- Most of the reviews include spoilers, so read at your own risk.
- These reviews are intended for a mature audience and may deal with darker subject matter and contain adult language.
- I am Dutch and not a native English speaker, it is actually my third language. If there's grammatical errors in a review those are probably unintentional!
- My rating system basically goes:
- 0.25-1 stars: Lowest possible scores, avoid this book at all costs. There's practically no redeeming qualities about it.
- 1.25-2 stars: Definitely not recommended, however there is one or two minor elements in there I can appreciate.
- 2.25-3 stars: Mid. Nothing awful and there's some things in here I can commend the book for, but I probably also wouldn't directly recommend it unless to a specific audience who might like the book.
- 3.25-3.75 stars: Recommendation. Not fantastic, but enough for me to say "yeah, this might be worth checking out if it speaks to you".
- 4-4.75 stars: Very good, a book I would absolutely recommend.
- 5 stars: Basically the best. These books I have usually no or basically no qualms with and are usually some of my favorites.
- Note 1: I usually give my books whole star or 0.5 star ratings, however I will occasionally use 0.25/0.75 ratings where I feel applicable. On Goodreads, due to the inability to give half and quarter-star ratings, I'll round it up to the higher number above, whereas Storygraph will have my true rating.
- Note 2: Sometimes, on rare occasions, I'll give a book two ratings, one for my personal enjoyment of the book and one for my critical rating of the book. Usually these two can be put into the same rating, but there's a few occasions where I feel the book itself is not objectively great but I still enjoy it a lot (just to name a scenario). This does not happen often, but should you come across a review with two ratings, that is why.
