Book Review: Alfie & George by Rachel Wells (Alfie #3)

This looked cute, so I picked it up from the library, not knowing it's actually a third book in a series. Luckily, it gives plenty of context for newcomers, so it can be read as a standalone. Spoilers ahead!

Book Review: Dog Tales by Penelope Rich

A quick read I picked up at the train station bookstore!

Book Review: The Quest for Paradise by Geronimo Stilton (The Kingdom of Fantasy #2)

So remember how I am rather nostalgic for the Stilton books? Well, I am, however for the Kingdom of Fantasy series in particular I never actually read past book one. So let's do that now, spoilers ahead!

Book Review: The Kingdom of Fantasy by Geronimo Stilton (The Kingdom of Fantasy #1)

I've talked before about how I grew up reading a lot of the Geronimo Stilton books. However, The Kingdom of Fantasy was always special for me because it was my first look at a "big" Geronimo Stilton book (this one being almost thrice as long as the usual books published under his name). It's also quite different in tone, this one being a high fantasy rather than taking place in Stilton's usual mouse world.

So let's see if it still holds up after all these years. Spoilers ahead.

A book I've wanted to read ever since I heard of the story and especially after I watched the movie. Let's dive in.

Note: The title of this book has been translated into English by me for the reading comprehension of this blog's viewers as the book itself isn't available in English (yet). The original title reads Het fascinerende leven van reptielen.

I don't read all that much about reptiles but I'm not opposed to checking out non-fictions about them, either!

Book Review: The Shattering by Kathryn Lasky (Guardians of Ga'Hoole #5)

I gotta be blatantly honest: I have no idea if the Ga'Hoole book series is sub-divided into arcs. I think there's around 13-16 books total but I'm really unsure on how they're divided up, if at all. However, I'm also not going to look it up on the gfan wiki out of fear of running into spoilers. So I'll just be reading them in order and go from there. I've also heard there's several spinoff books (not counting other series set in the same universe such as Wolves of the Beyond and Bears of the Ice), so I'll probably be checking those out after finishing all main-arc Ga'Hoole books.

Anyways, here's The Shattering. Spoilers ahead.

Book Review: The Cat Who Came in Off the Roof by Annie M.G. Schmidt

Originally published in Dutch, I'm unsure how popular this book is outside of the Netherlands. That said, over here it's one of the most famous children's books written in our language. So I was happy to re-visit it for the first time in probably two decades. It also spawned a movie adaptation, which is really fun as well. Spoilers ahead.

Book Review: Dogs Who Changed the World by Dan Jones

This one I saw in a bookstore a while ago, but back then didn't buy it. Not much later I regretted it, and to make things worse I'd forgotten the title and author, so I couldn't look it up online, either. So recently I went back to the bookstore and than the Lord they still had a copy. So I took it home with me, this book is just too "me" not to own. Let's have a look.

Book Review: The Jackdaw by Achilles Cools

Note: The title of this book has been translated into English by me for the reading comprehension of this blog's viewers as the book itself isn't available in English (yet). The original title reads De kauw.

This is the second book in this bird non-fiction series I'm reading. I hope this one is a bit better than The Raven, because that one wasn't a joy to read.

Book Review: Prehistory by Neil Morris

I really want to learn more about the prehistory, so I picked up some non-fiction books from the library on the subject. Let's review one of them here today.
