I really want to learn more about the prehistory, so I picked up some non-fiction books from the library on the subject. Let's review one of them here today.
In this book, Morris takes us on a journey back into the prehistory and shows us many things. We witness the big bang, the forming of life on earth, the evolution of humans and we leave off at the invention of writing.
So, yeah, a book that's pretty much exactly what it says on the tin. But it does it well. When I saw that this book was aimed at younger readers and rather thin (roughly 50 pages), I feared it wouldn't be a book with a lot of substance, but it really has a lot of it.
The pages are chock-full of information, both in larger and smaller sections, and illustrations. Despite the short page length, the amount of information given is thus still quite large and it's not just surface-level stuff. They actually do go in depth, albeit briefly, into several themes. This is not just a quick overview of prehistoric times you'll be done reading in an hour like I expected it to be. So I was very pleasantly surprised that there was so much substance to this book, to the point I'll also recommend it to older readers. Both because it has good and a lot of information but also because it looks great as well. Sure, if the reader wants even more depth and information, they'll have to pick up another book for further reading. But this makes for a nice introduction on the subject with a lot of information and tidbits on prehistory.
So, yeah, solid book! Don't be fooled by how thin it is, it has a lot of good content within!
