Book Review: The Golden Mole by Katherine Rundell

This one has been on my reading list for a while since I first saw it announced in an add. I actually reserved a library copy, but for some reason it wasn't ready for me to pick up until many months later. But now I finally got it, so let's have a look.

In this book, the author takes a look at several remarkable creatures. Not only the titular golden mole is talked about, but also creatures like pangolins, elephants, wolves, narwals, Greenland sharks, etc.

Overall this is a solid non-fiction about these animals. It doesn't really go too in-depth on any of them, but each chapter is still long enough for the reader to learn some interesting facts about these creatures. I personally just couldn't really get into this book too much because of the brevity of the chapters, but if you are looking for a quick read about some interesting animals I do recommend it.

The book also has some pretty illustrations to add flavor to the text, which are very welcome. It's definitely fast-paced, but if the reader wants just a quick look at various interesting animals this is your book. If any of these animals really end up speaking to you, however, I do recommend you pick up another non-fiction book specifically dedicated to the species so you can learn more.

Rating: 3.5/5
