Book Review: Painted Flowers by Caitlin Grizzle

Now this is a release I've been hyped for for ages. I already supported the OG animated series this book is based on years ago, and to now finally see the story completed in this book is very satisfying. I congratulate Grizzle on publishing her first book! I did beta read for this book and was given a free copy as a "thank you" in return, but this won't affect my review. Spoilers ahead!

Book Review: Nomads of the North by James Oliver Curwood

Another one of the Curwood books that is included in the omnibus I own. Yet another xenofiction by him, except that this one follows a dog and a bear! Spoilers ahead.

Book Review: A Wolf Called Wander by Rosanne Parry

A wolf book review? On my blog? I must be seeing things. But in all seriousness, I apparently had a false memory of already having reviewed this book. It's aimed at younger readers, but with it being about wolves I obviously couldn't miss it in my collection.

I've taken a look at the first Spires book, so it's only fitting to continue my look into the trilogy after me recently receiving the second book! Spoilers ahead.

Book Review: Back to God's Country by James Oliver Curwood

I originally didn't intend to review this story as I don't have fond memories of it, but since it's in the Curwood omnibus I own I might as well. This is the short story originally published as Wapi the Walrus, later renamed Back to God's Country. Spoilers ahead.

It's time to take a look at the currently last of the Winglets! So far these have been a mixed bag, so I wonder how the last one will preform for me! Spoilers ahead!

Book Review: Baree, Son of Kazan by James Oliver Curwood (Kazan and Baree #2)

I recently took a look at Kazan by James Oliver Curwood, so I figured I might as well review the sequel, which focuses on the son of Kazan. Spoilers ahead.

Book Review: Deserter by Tui T. Sutherland (Wings of Fire Winglets #3)

Another Wings of Fire Winglet for today. We're almost done with these, since it doesn't seem like a fifth will be made right now. This one focuses on Six-Claws. Spoilers ahead.

Book Review: Kazan by James Oliver Curwood (Kazan and Baree #1)

Chances are that if you are familiar with any type of wolf xenofiction at all, you've heard of Jack London's Call of the Wild and/or White Fang, both stories focusing on (wolf)dogs in the cold North during the late 1800s/early 1900s. There are some similarities between his works and Curwood's, with Curwood possibly being inspired by London's writing. So let's take a look at one of those! Spoilers ahead.

Book Review: Dances With Wolves by Michael Blake (Dances With Wolves #1)

I remember once, years ago, catching some snippets of the movie Dances with Wolves. It grabbed my attention, admittedly mostly because it had a wolf in it, but I never watched the thing in full. Then we flash forward to a few years ago, where I’ve now matured and am genuinely curious about the story of the movie. I happened to come across the book of this series on a secondhand book market, and just instantly bought it, seeing this as my chance to get into the story.

Full disclosure before we start: A) I still haven’t seen the movie in full and B), much more importantly, I’m white. This book centers heavily around the culture of the Comanche Native Americans, and I’m just looking at this as a reader of the book.

That said, let’s have a look at Dances with Wolves by Michael Blake. Spoilers ahead.

Book Review: Ice Wolves by Amie Kaufman (Elementals #1)

Welcome to another book review! Today we’re having a look at the shape-shifter fantasy book Ice Wolves by Amie Kaufman. This is the first installment in the Elementals series. I really don’t have much of an introduction for this one. I just saw it at the bookstore and knew I had it on my TBR for a while now, so I got it and was really excited to read it. Now, let’s have a look at this one. Spoilers ahead.
