Book Review: Tawnypelt's Clan by Erin Hunter (Warriors Novella #14)

Tawnypelt is one of my favorite Warriors characters, so needless to say I was delighted to hear that she got her own novella! So let's dive right into Tawnypelt's Clan. Spoilers ahead.

Shortly after ShadowClan's re-establishment under Tigerstar's (Tigerheart) leadership, Tawnypelt, the Clan's deputy, finds herself struggling with change. When Shadowkit keeps being plagued by visions about the Tribe of Rushing Water, he, Tawnypelt and Dovewing travel to them, all the while Tawnypelt wonders if maybe she's better off leaving her Clan behind.

I definitely liked this novella a lot. It gave some strong development for Tawnypelt, and I also liked the part Dovewing had to play in all of this. I'm not big on Tigerstar in this book, but luckily he isn't in it for very long and comes around pretty soon at the ending.

Tawnypelt is still one of my very favorite characters. I just love how sharp-tongued and short-tempered she is. She was one of the only traveling cats in arc 2 I found to be a bearable character. Shadowkit also has his moments, which is great.

The ultimate resolution for Tawnypelt to step down made me somewhat sad, because I think she deserves the position very much. But it's something she did voluntarily, and obviously she can make her own decisions. Maybe it really is for the better of ShadowClan's future that she stepped down and a younger deputy took her place.

Just a really strong novella about a really strong character!
