Book Review: Wild Boars by Geert-Jan Roebers

Note: The title of this book has been translated into English by me for the reading comprehension of this blog's viewers as the book itself isn't available in English (yet). The original title reads Wilde zwijnen.

I like boars, so let's read more about them!

In this book, the author gives the readers a closer look at wild boars, including their behavior, growth and development, social structures, what they look like, what they eat, and more.

This book is (obviously) directed at younger readers, but that never deterred me from them. Junior Information is a series dedicated to brief informative books about a certain subject for children, but they usually get the job done. Sure is the case over here.

The book is not super in-depth, but it still has enough content to not disappoint the reader and it even taught me as an adult reader a thing or two about these animals, which is neat. While the Mini Information (another series by the same publisher aimed at a slightly younger audience than Junior) series usually is just a tad too brief, the Junior Information have a really neat balance of delivering just enough information while also not going too in-depth. If the reader would want to know more about boars, obviously they'd have to look elsewhere, but the Information series (Junior and Mini).

So while not super deep or anything, this book definitely gets the job done. I wanted some brief information about wild boars, and that's what I got. That's all I needed. Whether all of it is accurate I of course cannot tell (not being super well-versed in boar knowledge), but for now this is a good start.
