Book three! Spoiler ahead!
In this book, White-Ears tells her pups a story of how she and their father hunted a huge herd of elk during her early pregnancy.
Honestly this one is nothing special, but I still quite liked it. It's a very short story (shorter than even book two), so if you want a fully fledged story you may need to look elsewhere, but for what it is, yes, I think this is decent enough even if the story is fairly simple. It's just an elk hunt and shows some exciting hunting scenes.
I also like that we get to know White-Ears a little better this time around, as well as her pups. Also, this time the author actually named a few more of his characters! I still don't know why this is such an issue for Rong (naming your characters shouldn't be a hard thing to do), but at least this time our protagonist and some of the characters around her have a name. I do still wish Brother and Black Wolf had actual names, but oh well. At least White-Ears and her pups are all named.
So yeah, not much to say here. A short but solid story. It's pretty exciting at times and the pup interactions can be charming, but it's also very brief and fast-paced. If you liked the first two books you'll probably like this, if not I recommend stopping here. I don't think that qualitatively book four will differ much from books two-three as they're all written in a similar short-but-sweet style.
