Another Puppy Patrol book. Spoilers ahead.
Side note: This is the fourth book in the series, but the second book I'm reviewing. This is because I don't own all the books of this series (there's a lot). Also, not all of them have been translated into Dutch (yet). However, this series is pretty much an anthology and can be read out of order. So it shouldn't be an issue.
Neil's family is tasked with looking after two very needy Westies: Sugar and Spice. The dogs prove to be troublesome. But then both of them mysteriously vanish. Neil and his family go to look for the Westies in hopes of finding them before Sugar and Spice's owners return home from vacation.
Another decent installment. Nothing grand or fancy like most of the Puppy Patrol books are, but totally fine and functional as an enjoyable children's book. It has some good messages and enjoyable characters.
It was nice seeing Neil and his sister take the initiative to look for Sugar and Spice, and their search for the dogs was quite enjoyable. I also like how there's no real villains in this story. Antagonists, sure. Yes, some characters are annoying and some make bad decisions. But there's no true "bad guy", which feels like a more mature direction for theses children's books to take (it's so easy to write in a one-dimensional bad guy and be done with it. I appreciate the nuance).
The Billy subplot is also pretty minor, but it was still heartwarming.
Just another neat installment!
