Book Review: Bramblestar's Storm by Erin Hunter (Warriors Super Edition #7)

Taking place after Omen of the Stars, we get a look at how ThunderClan is doing after the major shifts that happened during the war against the Dark Forest. Let's have a look, spoilers ahead.

After Firestar's death, Brambleclaw has taken over leadership of ThunderClan. A few prosperous moons have passed, but then signs of a great storm and flood show up, causing trouble for all the Clans. Brambleclaw must now grow confident in his own leadership skills in order to lead his Clan through these hardships.

I quite liked this one, but I feel like it was a bit lacking in some ways. First of all, the plot. There's the storm, yes, but it just kind of shows up and then goes away when it's convenient for the plot. There's no real villain in this book, which isn't always necessary, but a central antagonistic force would've made this book more interesting.

The dynamics in ThunderClan were interesting in this book. Squirrelflight and Bramblestar, still not having re-uinted as mates, quarrel frequently, and even the other Clan cats tend to disagree with Brambelstar's actions, such as bringing various kittypets into the Clan.

Speaking of which, the kittypets... I actually liked this addition. Minty wasn't too great a character, but I liked both Frankie's and Jessy's development. Jessy especially was a good character, and I honestly really liked her and Bramblestar together, to the point I hoped she'd actually end up with him. Unfortunately this wasn't the case and Bramblestar goes back to Squirrelflight, but I still liked their dynamic and how Jessy was a strong kittypet.

Bramblestar's POV wasn't mightily interesting, but I did like many of the things that happened in this book. I definitely disagreed with some of his leadership decisions, such as regularly interfering with ShadowClan matters in the way that he did. However, he wasn't particularly boring, either. Just not as interesting a POV as I'd hoped for.

Overall, this is definitely a good Super Edition. Not very great, but definitely good and it deserves a look.
