Note: The title of this book has been translated into English by me for the reading comprehension of this blog's viewers as the book itself isn't available in English (yet). The original title reads Le Tredici Spade #3: Il segreto della tigre.
Almost done with this stupid series. I'm making it no secret that I don't like it. So far it's my least favorite Geronimo Stilton series I've read. Ah well, spoilers ahead.
Our heroes now travel to the mysterious Shell Tower in order to obtain more swords. Here, Lune will go through her tests, while the Evil Mages are still on our heroes' heels.
Okay so, I didn't like this one much, either, but I will give it credit that it was more interesting than book two. But it still suffers by and large from the same issues as the other books so far: boring and bland main characters, stakes aren't that high (no named characters on the side of good die), uninteresting character relationships and interactions, a very formulaic plot, and villains who sit around and do little to nothing.
I will however say that there are some aspects I liked slightly better here. I did like the characters or Nazar the goblin and Zefiral the tiger, they were pretty nice. But our main leads are still as plain and bland as ever, so they don't get points. I was hoping this book would at least warm me up to Lune a little as she's the main character, but again it just did nothing for me. She's just so forgettable.
I also just wish that by now, 75% into the series, these two main villains would get off their lazy asses and just do something. Three books into the series and most what they've done so far is just sitting around, bickering, scheming, and letting their minions do their dirty work for them. How interesting would it be if we saw the full scope of the powers of the evil twins? Let them act out and make it grand and epic! But instead we get way too little.
So yeah, nothing much of note here. Bland and generic like the rest of the series so far. I hope that book four will be better, but I don't have high hopes.
