Doing
another Warriors novella review here! Today, we’re taking a look at
Dovewing’s Silence. Spoilers ahead!
After the events of the Great Battle, Dovewing finds herself
without her enhanced senses. It turns out that both Jayfeather and Lionblaze
are having trouble with their powers, too. They now have to learn to live their
lives as ordinary warriors without their powers, all the while the past Dark Forest trainees are facing harsh judgments from the other cats.
While not too much is happening in this book, it’s still
good to get some perspective at the post-Great Battle events. From
Bramblestar’s early leadership to the formerly Dark Forest-trainees having
trouble being trusted by their Clanmates again. The plot of this novella maybe
wasn’t the most interesting, but I still feel like this was a good book.
The characters were still good. I still like the Three a
lot. Though I grew less fond of Lionblaze as Omen of the Stars went on, I quite
liked him here again. Dovewing and even Jayfeather I kind of liked here. O
One thing I did not appreciate, however, was that the two apprentices who easily could've gotten their Clanmates killed by setting the trap with the fox didn't get punished at all by Bramblestar. That's just irresponsible, it was definitely dangerous and should've been treated as suchg.
The pacing was good overall.
This was a pretty decent book! While not the most exciting, it offers a new perspective on the aftermath of the Great Battle, which I can appreciate. Check this one out and see for yourself!
