Book Review: A Wolf Called Romeo by Nick Jans

Let's take a look at another non-fiction wolf book! This time about a particular individual!

This book follows a wolf named Romeo, much as the title implies. Romeo was a friendly wolf who, in the early 2000’s, lived near the Alaskan village of Juneau. Much unlike his fellow wolves, Romeo wasn’t shy in the slightest, interacting freely with people and their dogs, often approaching them just to play.

While Romeo became a much-beloved part of some Juneaunites lives, others weren’t so fond of the black wolf. Romeo’s safety turns out to be at risk.

This was a great read. It was well-written, and you feel the connection the writer had to this wonderful animal, and the concern the villagers obviously felt for their beloved wolf. A Wolf called Romeo is a heartfelt but also cautionary tale that was interesting, a real page-turner and well-paced.

I’m not going to spoil what happened to Romeo in the end, but you can find out by looking it up or reading this book, obviously. I definitely recommend this one for any wolf or animal lover.

Rating: 4/5
