This is kinda an emotional read for me, not because of the book itself per se, but because it marks the end of a journey I started as a young tween. Back then, I got book one for the Sinterklaas holiday, and I devoured it. Now, years later, I'm finally ending my journey with Torak, Renn and Wolf. Spoilers ahead.

BAM, here we are. It has been a while since we last visited the prehistoric world of Torak, Wolf and Renn, but at long last we return. Originally this book series spanned only six books (which I have all reviewed on this blog already), however in more recent years three more extra have been published in the series. Unfortunately it looks like the recent books will not be getting a Dutch translation (since I initially collected the Dutch hardcover editions), so I'll just have to make do with the English ebooks instead. Here we are, the final book of the "original" series. Yes, the newer books are still technically part of the same arc, but they were only written after the series was originally declared complete. The whole main looming threat of the Soul Eaters is also concluded in this book, so the newer books might feel more like addons to the story. I don't know, I haven't read them yet, but this will be my last Ancient Darkness review for a while until I get the new books! Spoilers ahead!

So, okay, remember last review of this series? Where I said I'd obtained the entire Chronicles of Ancient Darkness series (in Dutch)? Well, turns out we got a "problem": there's three more books coming out, none of which will be translated into my language. Which wouldn't be problem normally since obviously I love reading in English, but I do have a real thing for having every book in a series be the exact same edition/binding wise. So I'm probably going to have to cave and get the entire series in English as well if I want the new books to be consistent with the other editions. Sigh. That aside, let's begin the review!
